Abstract Visual cortical responses are known to be highly variable across trials within an experimental session. However, the long-term stability of visual is poorly understood. Here using chronic imaging V1 in mice we show that neural repeated natural movie clips unstable weeks. Individual neuronal consist sparse episodic activity which stable time but gain Further, find individual episode, instead neuron, serves as basic unit week-to-week fluctuation. To investigate how population encodes stimulus, extract a one-dimensional representation movie, unsupervised method.
